Not all obese children are abused or neglected. My mom always made nutritious meals, and had very little junk food in the house and 3 out of 4 of us kids struggled with our weight. Some kids are just prone to gaining weight. Some kids have disorders that make them become obese. Yes, they should be taking their children to the hospital, but even that doesn't always solve the problem.

i don't think that the government should have to monitor the childs obesity. the only thing the government should care about is making sure that the school systems themselves are not the reason that the child is becoming obese. that being said, child obesity should be viewed as both neglect and abuse by the parents. Neglegence IS abuse. Good question... you got me thinking

This is a REALLY sticky issue, because so many obese kids come from families with likewise parents! And HOW are you going to tell those parents to their faces that their kids are too fat??! Personally, I think it's a combination of poor parenting skills, negligence, incompetence, & not enough exersize on ALL sides. Society & our values are PROMOTING this situation; HOW can we make it a crime to go to Wendys- when the commercials are on TV every 5 minutes??! The fact IS, childhood obesity is just the TIP of a MUCH larger iceburg... This is Societys problem- not our children's.

Neglect is abuse- These parents are probably also overweight, so they say it is genetic. Of course your kids will over eat and become lazy, kids copy their parents. But if they pushed their kids into sports and/or other activities, they wouldn't share their fate.
Yes, they should make them get involved in their kids well being.

i personally think its stupid. in fact everything now days about the government is stupid. they are trying to take everybodys rights away to everything. pretty soon its gonna be where we are living like communists. a person should be able to raise their children any way that they want to. the us government needs people that actually know what they are doing and how to run america.

Neglect. Parents obviously just don't care about their children's well being if they let them become obese.
