-I know that as a pre-med student, it is required to take 1 year of calculus, english, chemistry, orgo, physics. and Biology. But If you major in Biochemistry, do you still take biology and chemistry classes or do you not since the major covers it?

At most universities, the requirements for a Biochem major include classes in both biology and chemistry (with labs, and including organic).

These classes will also simultaneously fulfill the biology (1 year, with labs) and chemistry (2 years, with labs, including organic) prerequisites for med school application.

However, ALWAYS check with your pre-med advisor to be sure all your bases are covered.

You have to take all the courses that medical schools require before you apply. If those requirements are included in you major, thats fine as long as you take the courses.
