dogs no question - they're more attentive and loyal - cats don't give a sh!t - what's the point in haveing a pet that couldn't care less if you're there or not. aside from that I'm allergic to most cats.

I had both at the same time. They were about 8 weeks old when I put them together and in about another month..they were inseparable. I put the dog in the car to go to the vet..the cat jumped on the hood as we were backing out of the driveway, and tried to claw through the windshield to get to her friend. I put cat in the car and she went too. They would sleep on the floor together, The cat would use the dog for a pillow. Quite a sight. I taught the dog to shake, the cat sat beside him, and she learned to shake also. So why not have both? The cat stayed outside most of the time. (cat door) but at feeding time, her and dog would eat out of the same bowl. They both lived about 16 yrs, and were the best of friends for most all of their lives. So it will depend on your preference, and what you want.

I like dogs OK, but I must go with kitties!

they're easier to cuddle (for some reason puppies always seem so 'stiff' when I try to cuddle them)

They don't require constant attention but can be extremely affectionate. They'd be ok by themselves for a day or two.

They're beautiful animals and interesting to watch

They don't chew through cords or gnaw on other important items

They purr! To me, that's one of the most comforting sounds in the world.

I love my cats... they're my babies!

Both cute, but dogs are happier and better companions, overall. Cat's tend to do their own thing, while dogs are more eager to spend time with their owners. Also...to be honest...all that fluffy cat hair floating around the house like a cloud, and the fact that they poop inside, are two more good reasons to go for a dog!

Definitely a puppy. Cats aren't much fun when they grow up. Many just sit around and sun themselves and wait to be petted.

I'd prefer a dog where I could actually take him for a walk and play fetch with him.

i perfer dogs because they're alot more lovable and you can really tell their personality from the start. they will love you and will always want to be with you. also they're extremely loyal and you will always have something to do with them. cats on the other hand are alot more solitary and perfer to be left alone but they still wont mind spending time with you now and then. if you want a pet you can spend alot of time with then choose a dog. otherwise choose a cat. they're still both wonderful pets. choose the pet that best fits your life style and personality.

Cats, because most of them can give less of a crap if youre calling them or gives you a smart-alec look which would seem like something i would do if i were an animal.

I would say cat, but I still do like dogs. I like cats more because they are kind of more cuddly where as dogs are better and funner to play with.

I would prefer the puppy beacuse that puppy would grow into a proud companion that guards your house with a loud bark
