Why in prison (or so I've heard) are sex offenders reffered to as "Short Eyes" is that right? I'm curious if theres an intresting story behind it. I know it's a weird question, so you don't have to tell me about it.

I really didn't expect such great responses! Thank you so far, it's all coming to light...
Anyway, what the hell is wrong with such people? Thouse who pray on children should never be OUT of prison.

Hmm...that's a new one. I worked in a prison for five years and I never heard that. I Googled it and it's for a pedophile namely. It could be a regional term.

I would imagine it has something to do with the height of the children the pedophiles pray upon. Not 100% though. I've only ever heard them called the standard names which I won't mention here. lol

It is probably due to the fact that in 1977 a movie titled "Short Eyes", set in the New York penitentiary known as the Tombs, was made. In it, Bruce Davison, who played the role of an incarcerated molester, delivered a shocking monologue about his sexual responses to children.

You're right. that is very interesting I had no idea and I live in Texas near a very large prison town and I have some close family who work in the prison. You learn something new everyday.

"short-eyes,"
(as, "he has short-eyes," meaning he goes after young kids).
