Do you think age plays a role in your acceptance of advice. If you check out the other question that i posted up a while back, and some questions that I've replied to, my question and some answers show a sense of maturity right? But if I told you that I am 16, will the way you accept my advice change? Will you be saying to yourself "Oh that kid doesn't know what he's talking about; he's only 16." I may not have as much life experiences as some older people have had or have gone through, but I can say that the things young people say may have some wisdom in it.
So what do you think? Does Age Matter???

Would you still take advice from a kid of 16 years (like me)?

No age is not a factor . Old farts like us know that we haven't seen everything and could not possibly see everything in a life time . My grand kids teach me new things . Age is just a matter of mind. Makes me happy when a kid gives me advise .
Lets me know there's hope for mankind and us old farts must have did something rite no matter what you little brats think

It really all depends on the topic. If it's something that I consider young like video games or entertainment where younger people keep up with that kind of stuff, then of course I see no reason to take advice. As far as anything that goes along with life lessons, psychology, etc. I admit that I would take an older person's advice over that of a teenager. When I was 16 I thought I knew alot more than I did. You don't find that out until you're not 16 anymore.

Yes. If I need advice on how my son can get through high school, I am going to ask you. If I want to know which IRA or 401k plan is best for me I'll ask someone older. So, I have to say age does matter, depending on the subject. Like many things, advice is relative. Please bear in mind you said advice, not opinion. I may value an opinion from someone younger over an older person, yet still take the older person's advice.
Also you included giving advice in your question. I feel now that I am older, I seem more comfortable in giving advice.

I think it matters when it comes to how people percieve you. However, good advice comes from somebody who knows what they're talking about. period. I am more reluctant to accept advive from a 11th grader on college than I would be from somebody in thier fifties. However, experience and knowing what you're talking about is what matters. Perhaps the junior was concurrently enrolled and the senior never went to school past seventh grade. I'd listen to the junior regarding what courses to take. But to answer your question, people do look down on young people because in some regards we are unexperienced, yet we are also the ones coming up with great new ways of doing things. Hope this helped and have a nice day!

I tend to temper everyone's based on my experience. I like to hear the ideas of young adults because they can often offer a fresh perspective. Also since science is ever-changing and growing, you have probably been taught some things that weren't around when I was your age.

Experience also has it's value however, especially on behavioral matters. Many times, I've watched people experiencing painful life lessons that I myself have experienced. Many times, warning people of the possible consequence is met with "MYOB" -- Mind Your Own Business. So now I only try to warn of the really dangerous ones -- knowing that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I think the world would be a better place if more people of all age groups would be more respectful of each other's ideas.

I have received sound advice from a 7 year old and really awful advice from someone 20 years my senior. This does not mean that I will listen to EVERYTHING a 7 year old has to say and discard everything the older person says. In general, I know I will get more mature and solid advice from an older person. But I will listen to all and weigh each piece of advice to decide if it has merit or not.

Not neccasarily. I am older than you but I believe that life experiences influence us and you can be sixteen and have experienced more emotionally and understand to some degrees more than some fifty year olds I know that do not "believe" in showing emotions or giving true advice due to the generation gap. We never know what people go thru these days but regardless something you say may help one person and if that is the case then it was all worth it!

Hi Mr. Ficat!!!

Yes!!! I would take your advise very seriously, that is if I know who you really are!!!. The best advises that some people had given me, had come, from my mother, grandmother, aunt and friends (older than me). But also from my children and co-workers, (younger than me)!!!

I believe and learn by experience that age has absolutely NOTHING to do, when an advise is given seriously. I honestly have to say that if I would've taken some advises that my children gave me, and I over looked, I wouldn't have to go through some hardships in life!!!

I work in school and everyday there is something to learn from a student. I respect their opinions, because they are the ones that are up-to -day in many ways!!!

Young ones, are often genuine and honest. Grownups, are reluctant to give and take advise.

GOD BLESS YOU , GOOD LUCK & HAPPY LIFE

A.Z.

Yes, I would seriously listen to your advice. There
are many people (young and old) who can zero
in on another's problems and give some really
worthwhile advice. Just by you being so empathetic,
I can tell you take these things seriously.

I don't think so every one have views and opinions and just because your older doesn't mean your wiser you never know that something that you say will have no meaning to some but change others life for the good
