My 2nd son went through this as well (yes, I'm pretty sure its just a stage!!!) What I use to do, and its pretty weird!, but as you know you get desperate! I use to buy sheets of cheap stickers, then when it was change time I would put 3 or 4 stickers on the backs of his hands. Then, while he was busy trying to take off the stickers and look at them - hey presto!!! Diaper changed. A miracle!!! He fairly much forgot about his tamper throwing after a few months anyway, so don't worry.

I think I posted this same question here when my daughter was about that age! lol!
She is now a year old, and still twists and kicks, but I have some tried and true ways now:
1. Act surprised, and say "Oh! Look at THAT!"...just the change in tone of voice is enough to freeze her.
2. Put something in her hands that she has never held or seen, or only rarely sees. She will play with it and look at it, and stay still.
My daughter just got over roseola, which involves a 105 temp, followed by a rash....after taking her temp rectally 10 times in 2 days, she was very very squeamish for a week every time I had to change her diaper. She had to gain trust in me again....that taking temp wasn't going to happen every time I changed her diaper.

My 14 month old is the same way! I am not sure what it is. I finally had to give her something that was not a toy to get her attention. Like the phone, or the diaper rash cream or something. I think she will get over it in time.
Try a different location, like on the bed or on the floor. That worked for like 2 days for me, maybe you will have better luck with it.

You might talk to your pedi. When did it start? Something has caused her some kind of trauma. One of the other contributors said it was taking the baby's temp, good insight. Are you the only one who has been changing her. Has she been in a day care center or with someone who may have hurt her? You CANNOT be cautious. I sincerely hope that I am way way wrong but something has caused the problem. I have had 5 of my own children and have 8 grandchildren and none of them had that kind of a problem generally it was how to keep them from taking off a diaper lol.

for my daughter, it only got worse. the stronger she gets, the hard it is to keep her still. if your changing mattress has the straps you can clip to hold the baby in place, use those. we make diaper-changing a two-person job. my husband entertains while I clean up. i give her toys or snacks to try to distract her.

my daughter is 16 mths and has been like that since 6-8 mths...still is, though she has her good times...my cell phone is my best friend when it comes to changing time...try using music from it or call some and put on speaker to talk to them

It's just a phase, I think every child goes through this at some point.

She's exerting her control over you. Be firm, and don't let her get away. Try showing her the potty - you may get lucky and train her early.
