sweetie, call some churches with your needs, many people are ready and willing to help when they can, also try thrift stores, friends and family. sometimes the women in some churches will give you a shower to help get you and your new baby off to a good start:) good luck and GOD BLESS.

Well it depends on how big your cradle is. When my daughter came home from the hospital she slept in a cradle a little bit bigger then a large tool box (about 32") and I used a king size pillow bought at Wal-Mart for $5. And for sheets I wrapped a receiving blanket around the pillow. (quick and easy clean up) Now if your cradle is any bigger then that I suggest that you do get a mattress from some where whether it be new or used. And do not let any one tell you you have to buy new because all major brands of children's mattress are coated in a plastic protection because of accidents and there is nothing that is on one that bleach and hot water is not going to kill. I have been there a baby and little funds to buy things with. You make due with what you can and pray for the best.

You really should buy your mattress new. I think we spent $40 on ours. Not too much.

Otherwise, I would check garage sales, salvation army, a great consignment store called "once upon a child"...I know they are in Ohio and Kansas...not sure of where you live.

Talk to the hospital/doctors office, and let them know you need a mattress....maybe they can, through word of mouth, help you. I can imagine that the social worker at the hospital where you give birth can REALLY help.

Good luck.

E-bay usually has some really great deals on baby things. Also, check and see if there is a freecycle (where people offer up things that they no longer want for free) in your area. Look in the yellow pages for childrens used clothing and good stores and check Goodwill. Also check the yellow pages for organizations that offer Abortion alternatives because they will often help mothers find clothing, furnishing, and baby supplies. Good Luck!

for my cradle, i made my own. i went to walmart and bought the firm eggshell thing for a twin size bed and got a king size zip up pillow case (stain and/or wet resistant) and measured the cradle and cut out what i needed for the mattress. it works great... but make sure the eggshell is firm

There is a great free website called freecycle.org where people actually give away stuff they are no longer in need of anymore. I have gotten tons of stuff from there. You have to go to the website and then find your area where you live and register where you live. They send you emails when new stuff is being posted...it is awesome.
Hope you find what you need

Have you tried target or K. Mart? Thats where I got mine. There are lots of cheep baby stuff on ebay, people often sell huge bundles and you can get them for a bargain. Sometimes a lot of the stuff isn't even used. Please dont use a used matress though, hopefully you know that already though!

Ebay and local consignment stores. you would be surprised at what you can find there. I buy almost all my twins clothed from consignment. They just grow out of it way too fast. Why waste money?
