How do you prevent a former subcontractor photographer from using photos of your child to promote their new photography business without parental consent? This individual was a subcontractor for a modeling agency- we signed release to the agency, not her. She was fired for bad conduct. She has a history of having deviant and sexually explicit photos on her websites, and often works for gay magazines. I dont want my childs photos used by her to promote her business, but she says she can & there's nothing i can do about it since she was the "artist" Do i have any rights as a mom here ?

To make sure you obtain a correct and clear explanation I highly recommend you contact the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. The office has consumer specialists and legal staff that will answer such inquiries free of charge. I have contacted the office by telephone a couple times in the past and always received friendly and helpful service. If they are not able to answer your question immediately over the phone someone will usually research the information for you and call you back. You can also send a letter to their office and/or complete an official consumer complaint form which can be downloaded from the office's website. Here is the attorney general's contact information:
