I have been logging into a website for over a year without using my password because I accepted to be logged in automatically - my password is saved. I wonder, is this really safe? Recently I have encountered some problems logging in (2 websites now) because they tell me that my password and/or ID is wrong. Anyone knows why this happens?

Thank you all for the answers provided. I am sorry to say that it still did not work.
Sunil, I tried the option of clearing my password that was saved and also asked them (at the website) for my password eventhough I know it. I loged in but it did not work. Both sites are related (sister sites) and when this happened with the first I wrote to them about the problem and all I got was automated response with my ID and passwrod which did not work. After contacting them 4 times, with the same problem, I stopped and I think they also gave up because I got no response to the last querry. I just know

Thanks!! Wildcat74 for the details - I have learnt so much from the explanations and will do as required. Unfortunately there is no phone number (Dating sites usually don't) to get to them directly. I wish it was possible coz I just want to delete my account there those sites. Thanks again, I appreciate!

I do not do what you do because it always allows anyone who has acess to your computer to be able to log into your account, that is not a good practice. there are spywares that can extract the pasword out wth bots and you won't even know it and they can watch your site and know when you are online and generally find out anything they want to know about you by browsing thru your computer and geting the passwords you have saved. If you have individalized passwords and memorize them it is still able to get them but it is harder, but for personal safety it is best to change them on a regular basis, and if you are doing what you say then you are not deletng your cookies and tempory internet files often and are setting up yourself to be hacked. Take it from someone who has had their identity stolen, ya don't want to go there. and even if your computer is pass word protected I can go to your computer and break the password in les than a minute and gain full acess to your computer and again you would never know. I could actually watch everything you do while you were on and you would not even know it. Please be careful and if you have a web cam unpug it unless your ready to use it becase on some cams you can move the camera around without seeing the angle change and it to can be turned on remotely so unless you don't mind being seen in the buff, dont worry about it , but if you do and the computer is in your bedroom then unplug it. hope this helps. And if your passwod does not work contact the company by phone, to change it.

If you are using this option from your personal computer its very safe. But never save your password when you are using it in a public internet cafe or such thing.

If ur using this option on your personal computer then i am sure your second query reg your Username / Password not matching has nothing to do with this option.

For a workaround just try to clear the saved password and retype it again.

You can open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options

Go to Content > Auto Complete And click the button Clear Passwords.

Hope this would work for you

If you need any further clarification please get back to me.

I think it is OK if it is not a high security site and you are at home on your own computer and no one else uses it. Otherwise you should not do that. As to the log in problem, is it possible that you have forgotten your log in name or password? I have lots of different ones and have them written down.

Its pretty safe as long as you are the only one that uses the computer, and you remember our password. Someone, (you or someone who uses the computer) went to the site, and either changed the password to log in on another name, or unclicked the 'remember me' box on the fansdjgnlsk;jfasbl

No it's safe to use log in automatically. when you do that, all the password will be save on a text on the computer. if a hacker get into your computer, then he/she can see all the passwords you have save on your computer. I have try this before and find text and i open it, it list all my e-mail address and the passwords that i use it to automatically log in and any save passwords i use on the computer.
