Ok, we're not even pregnant yet, but my husband and I are already going over baby names. Let me know what you think. We have 2 girls names, and 2 boys names picked out.

Girls:

Ayla Rose (Rose is my sister and both Grandmothers middle names)

Keely Jean (my mother in law is Kelly Jean, so we thought it would be nice to kind of name the baby after her)

And then the boys:

Vander James (He wanted Alexander, but I think it's WAY too common...we found Vander in one of the novels my hubby was reading)

Talon Alexander (ok, I gave in on the Alexander, but only as a middle name. I like Talon, but I want it spelled Talen)

As you can see, we like slightly unusual names. I can't think of anything worse than being stuck in class with 2 other kids with your name. Let me know what you think, but PLEASE be nice. Well, at least don't be too harsh...lol

i really like the names you both selected. rose is a very victorian old fashioned and dainty name not used much today and jean was a popular name in the early 30's and 40s not used very much today either.

ayla is a very rarely name meaning gazelle in hebrew. this is a very feminine name which has been used many hundreds of years ago but has been forgotten today.

vander is scandinavian and a strong name. talon was a scottish/celtic name very popular over a hundred years ago.

you truly have ununsual names and all classy as well as beautiful!

the combination i love the best are ayla rose and talon alexander......very beautiful and feminine for her and very strong and masculine for him. they are truly unique!

Ayla Rose is a GORGEOUS name! i love it! "keely" doesn't sound as good...it's just a bit too strange of a twist on the name kelly. i also adore the name Talon Alexander. it flows beautifully. both names do. and vander sounds like...well, like you found it in some novel that your husband might have been reading, haha. i love the originality of all the names!! i hope you'll choose ayla and talon as names for your beautiful babies to come. best of luck making a decision!

I love the name Keely Jean but the name Ayla Rose has more meaning to your family. It's had but I choose Keely Jean---it's pretty and at least has meaning.

For the boy, I would totally pick Talon Alexander. The name sounds like a fighter and a mighty one too.

I love unique names as well, however people with extremely unusual names (unless you are a movie star, in which case, you probably were not born with that name anyay!) are extremely disadvantaged in the real world. I like the girls names much better. They are unusual, but still sound respectable. Ayla looks like it might be tricky to pronounc; your daughter may be forever correcting people's pronunciation of her name.

I honestly think Vander and Talen are a little too off the wall. If you really like them, I would suggest inverting the names (i.g. James Vander and Alexander Talen), but calling the lad by his middle name at home if you prefer. Also, please spell it "Talen"! "Talon" evokes unfortunate images of a bird of prey's claw!

I like the sentiment behind Ayla Rose, as far as Rose being named after 3 people....but i truthfully like Keely best for first name. Keely Rose would be pretty and since you said your mother in law is Kelly Jean, Keely could be the spin off Kelly, and use Rose to go off the other 3 people. I have never seen Keely and really like it. Very different, very cute!!
For boys...i LOVE the sound of Vander. Reminds me of Zander, which i love as well. Vander is different, but not so out there that it will be bad. I like it. I really like unique names, and yours sound great! Good luck on concieving!!

I'll try not to be harsh, but:
1. Ayla, kayla kayley haley kaila micaela michaela mikayla kylie keely...whatever.....do you realize how MANY people are tacking these names on their babies? Wayyyy too many. If you are looking for something unique, stay away from these.
If you think Alexander is common, wait until you see all the posts on yahoo answers of people who want to name their kids the above names. I haven't heard of Ayla before, but it sounds just like the rest of them. Bayley, kayley, Hayley, ayla, kayla, etc etc etc......

Talon? No....does he have big eagle claws? Not a good name.
Vander? No. Unless you are a diehard fan of evander holifield (boxer).

Rose is also an overused name these days, but not as much as the others.

Jean will definitely be unique in the next few decades.

Both the girls names are nice
Vander I don't like Talon is the claw of a bird but Talen James has a ring to it. Someone told me to yell the name out the door like you are calling them in for dinner and if it sounds bad (like Floyd Lloyd) don't do it. Sometimes having a name that is so different or is spelled odd that you cannot get it on a souvenier sucks.

Ayla Rose - LOVE IT! Gorgeous.

Keely Jean - not crazy about it. Kyla Jane

Vander James - nice
(Although Vander is a common prefix for Dutch names and means "from the". So someone with the surname Vandermeer, for example, means From The Lake)

Talon Alexander - okay
