Attachment with living things makes us feel attached to them. We cling to them because of some insecurities which are deep inside us. In the ned, this attachment prooves to be 'useless' as the problems, insecurities remain there only.
Attachment with non living things is also for the same reason. They work as'security blankets', just give us a feeling of 'being there'.
Attachment with any thing leads to sorrows, insecurities and pain. according to Hindu beliefs, non-attachment releases your soul from the wordly matters, which is true. Attachment of any kind gives pain.
It is better to understand this as early as possible. The whole world is a 'Myth' or MAYA, whatever is 'mine' today, goes to some body else tomorrow.
Better be neutral with living or non living.
Love every one, do your duties, be sincere,be helpful, be kind and be available for everyone. This is the core of life.
