Auto: done by you, yourself.
Erotic: having to do with sex.
Asphyxiation: choking, cutting off the air supply.
Basically, it's when you cut off your air supply in order to get erotic stimulation. Of course, you don't do this in a way that would be fatal (although it is very dangerous- a lot of people have been injured or even killed in attempting it), but slightly cutting off the air supply derives the brain of oxygen, giving a highly pleasurable sensation in the brain. Coupled with masturbation or other physical stimulation, it increases the sexual pleasure.
Like I said, dangerous, but often practiced. Doesn't have to be auto-, either, since many couples do it to one another.

It is a thrill of having the oxygen supply cut off from ones brain while attaining an orgasm, usually through strangulation. A friend of mine had a brother who did this; I attended his brothers funeral and saw him and his family fall apart because of what happened afterwards.
