Usually in the mainland women keep their own maiden name.
But women in Taiwan usually add their husbands' last name in front of their own. So, say, if "Li rong qiang" was a Taiwanese woman and married someone whose last name was Zhang, her name would be "Zhang li rong qiang."

If she follows the traditional chinese way, she'll add up her husband's last name instead of changing her family name. Usually there are three words composed for a full chinese name. For a married women, there are four with her husband's last name comes in front.

I don't know Chinese custom but the Western custom of changing a woman's surname to her husband's is just easier for everyone involved, and believe me, I am very supportive of women's rights.

I guess that depends on if she is traditional Chinese and/or living in China, or if she is in America. If she lives in the US, she more than likely will take her husbands last name.
