In order to solve for "x" > the expression has to be an equation - equal to some value/number. I think you forgot to write...
4x - 6 = 0
First: add "6 to both sides (when you move a variable to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign) ....
4x - 6 +6 = 0 + 6
4x = 6
Sec: isolate "x" on one side - divide both terms by "4"...
4x/4 = 6/4
x = 6/4
Third: simplify the fraction into lowest terms --- find a numver that is divisible with the numerator & denominator which is "2"...
x = 3/2

If you mean, 4 x = 6, then just isolate the x one side by dividing it by four. Then, divide the other side by 4 just to make things fair.
x = 6/4 = 3/2
If you meant 4x-6, then you can't solve for x. X in this case is just a variable representing any number. If you don't have an equal sign, you don't have a solvable equation.

well, u first set the problem to zero: 4x-6 = 0. then, add 6 to both sides: 4x = 6. divide each side by four: (4x)/4 = 6/4. simplify: x = 3/2 . hopefully that was helpful. :p

4x-6=0 then add 6 to the other side so 4x=6 then divide by 4 so x=1.5

Well, first of all it has to be a valid equation, meaning it has to equal something. If it was equal to 14 you would solve like this:
4x-6=14
Add 6 to both sides
4x=20
Divide
x=5

first of all make 4x-6 equal to zero
4x-6=o
then add 6 to both sides
4x=6
then divide by 4
x=6/4
then simplify
x=3/2

4x-6=????? without an equal sign somewhere, it is not possible to get x= anything. Better check the problem statement & repost.
