I have a 2001 Honda Accord stick shift. It's only got 46,000 miles on it. Just a few days ago a problem started... I am unable to shift into 4th gear. No problem w/ any of the other gears. I can go from 3rd to 5th but can't get it into 4th. i've tried not lowering the clutch all the way, I've tried pressing the clutch thru the floor boards, I've tried to manuver it in every way to get it into 4th but it won't budge. BUT, like I said it goes smoothly into all other gears! Any idea what's wrong?

it could be some bad syncro's which is a plastic type of gear that helps assist the shift its like a funnel in a way i would recomend a trans flush at a dealership if they use bg products but dont tell them then after you leave for a day you call and complain that it is not going into gear ie 4th and it didnt do that before this will save you some money in they fix it for a warranty price which is usally a labor cost or less to keep your business bg product hav apreventitive maintainence plan that help the consumer you are considered a tier 2 which will cover about half the cost of a new trans so the cost of a trans do the math

I had a 90 civic and I shift from 3rd to 4th at 40 mph and above. I installed a tach so I like to shift around 3500~4000. So, you are maybe shifting at around 2700. Anyway, shifting early is like shifting early when you ride your bike. It may put more stress on your legs, so it may put more stress on the clutch and rods. That little bit, don't know if it really does any harm. Life of the clutch goes from 160,000 mile to 130,000?
