Because the lakers have been good but not near the level they once were, and when they were great, kobe was playing in shaq's shadow. The mvp is usually the lone superstar on a great team like tim duncan with the spurs or a player that helps ressurect a team that was bad before they acquired him like steve nash did in phoenix. If the lakers overachieved and had the best record with the supporting cast they currently half, then maybe kobe will win.

asserting Kobe merits the MVP with 3 jewelry is like asserting Devean George, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher merits the MVP. They have been purely teammates of Shaq at his best. purely seem on the season stats and enormously seem on the playoffs stats. Shaq broke the checklist on each thing! Assists, rebounds, factors, blocks, and unfastened throws made and tried! valuable, if the NBA is a a million-on-a million interest, Kobe is MVP, little doubt approximately that. however the NBA is a 5-on-5, and Kobe's infantile attitude shouldn't decrease it. This "me-me-me" and "i desire to be a hero" attitude is easy infantile. seem at Kobe's shooting streak, approximately 20-30 factors are thoroughly ineffective. So why would not Kobe bypass the ball so his teammates can share the honour? that would have build group self assurance. Kobe basically bypass the ball while the group is dropping. That kills group self assurance. Kobe is a vampire, he sucks the boldness away. while Kobe became into injured, Lakers performed great. seem at what occurred while he got here decrease back. Kobe for MVP? Now which would be unfair.

MVP always goes to the player with the biggest impact on a winning team. Kobe has yet to prove he can win without Shaq...until this season. His game has changed this year, instead of throwing up jumpers, he is looking to get his teammates involved. If Lakers earn a top-spot in the playoffs, Kobe could take MVP, but I also think Arenas could take it if the Wiz win the East.

Because he was charged with rape and didn't get along with Shaq or he would have won it last year. The biggest slap will come when he wins a ring without getting an MVP award that season. He's the best but he's not liked like Jordan. It's like being president and no one liking you like George Bush, whereas people loved Clinton, or when people started hating Tom Cruise for the comments about Brooke Shields .

kobe had a bad reputation of being a selfish ball hog who wanted to be the greatest basketball player there ever was. this year however, he looks like a changed man. he's not the same kobe he was even a year ago because everybody is noticing that he has grown into a team player. he's still explosive when he wants to be, since sometimes he goes crazy making well over 30 points per game, but he has learned to trust his teammates more. its obvious that he makes the lakers that much better when he's out there with them. i agree that this could be his year and like him or not you have to know he's a definite contender for the award right beside nash and nowitzki.

for the same reason that t-mac has never won one. he's never been the most valuable player. there's a difference between best overall player and most valuable player, kobe's teams have never done well enough enough without shaq to warrant an mvp

Jordan only won it 5 times in his entire career. Kobe's time may come.

because he is so selfish, MVP is a team player. Kobe plays for him and him only

An MVP has to make his teammates better, thus making his team better. Up to this year, Kobe was unwilling to do that. This could be his year, though...
