i have a DELL 8250 desktop with Windows XP.

i got 2 Kingston 512 mb, PC 2700, 333MFz, DDR. RAM.

HOWEVER! i think i got ****** because one has a green backing and the other has a black one. and the individual square things have different names. one is NANYA and the other one is ELPIDA. but they are both caragorized as the same thing! ...does the difference matter? im really pissed right now and all i want is an answer. i have been getting so screwed over about this whole thing. o yeah, and one is just slightly bigger than the other one. y did this happen to me? damn u office depot.

If it doesn't have a Kingston sticker it might be not Kingston ram.

If it has Kingston stickers on, then the difference is that they are just different models of Kingston ram. Nanya and Elpida make Dram chips and any company who makes ram modules can buy and use these chips on their ram modules. The Dram chips are those square things you are referring too.

The problem with having different models of ram from the same company, is that they might have different timings. If this is the case your ram will likely be running at the higher of the two modules Cache latencies and trimmings. When buying ram it's better to have lower Cache latencies and timings, but it usually costs more.

The height and colour of the Ram is not something to be concerned about, only the number of pins.
