I live in Canada, my girlfriend of four years lives in the Philippines. Now I know what you're thinking, and it's not like that. I'm 24, she's 25. We're both well educated, and come from good families. So it's not your stereotypical old man/young girl situation, just so the girl can get out of the country. I just wanted to get that out there, because it seems to be the first thing people thing about.

We have met a number of times already, and want to take this relationship to the next level. We both want to live here in Canada together, but we don't know how to get started. So, I'm doing what I can to find out, and get pointed in the right direction! This is a big step for both of us, and understand it's going to be a tough process, but we're ready for it. Any help you can provide us will be greatly appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me any help you might be able to provide, or if you need more information to give a good answer for us, I'd be happy to go into more detail. Thank you!

There are a couple of ways you can go about it. The easiest would be if she can come to Canada as a visitor, marry you, then remain in Canada and apply for Permenant Resident status as a spouse from within.

Or you could go to the Phillippines, marry her and she could remain in the Phillippines and apply for PR status as a spouse from outside Canada.

Either way, the process can take up to a year to get the PR status. She will have to pass a medical exam and have police background checks done. You will have to officially sponsor her and submit all your financial and employment information.

There is a great Yahoo group that can help you. Most of the members are applying as spouses. They can give you the informatin you need and walk you through filling out all the Immigration forms. Here's the URL:

Good luck!

Your first step should be to the Canadian Embassy in Manila, where they will provide you with all the information you need. You can also search a lot of this out online. The primary criteria for a spousal visa include evidence of a long-term continuing relationship. In your case, this would include airline tickets, passport stamps, photographs of you both on holiday together etc. Also helpful will be references from people who know you as a couple. It's also beneficial to your application if your girlfriend has been to Canada on vacation and met your family and friends, and, of course, that she speaks English. This is a long process. Good luck.

If it fairly is not achieveable, the two he needs to come again decrease back to the States or you're able to bypass to Germany to get married.

best idea is contact the Immigration department --- they will have online imformation --- then maybe contact an immigration agent to help you --- it will cost but maybe less than if you dont use them

im in the same sort of situation -- Australia/Romania --- i meet all the stereotypes im afraid --- its not about that its about how you feel for each other --- best wishes
