Can you feel the threads of the Mirena? You should have been taught to check for placement by inserting your fingers (after thorough washing) into the vagina and feeling for the threads up at the top of the canal. That will tell you if it's still in place. You can have irregular bleeding and spotting with the mirena for the first 3 months, but you should call your doc office, tell them how many pads/tampons you're using a day, and see what they suggest.

I just had mine put in today, so I've got the product information leaflet RIGHT HERE!!!
It might be that it's slipped down and that's why you feel it when you put your tampon in. Go to your GP/gynaecologist and ask them to have a look. They can do it via ultrasound or x-ray as it contains barium sulphate to show up.
******They do recommend that you don't use tampons for at least one month after the insertion to reduce the risk of infection******
Also, it says that your bleeding will probably be heavier for the first one or two months, and that you will bleed initially because of the associated trauma inside. However, it will reduce after 3 to 6 months.
Good luck - please email me and let me know how you're getting on! I don't know anybody with the blooming thing in to ask!!

Mirena is an IUD, right? I know that after IUDs are inserted, you can have pain and bleeding. Talk to your doc. With old school IUDs, two little wires hung out of your cervix. I'm not sure if that's the way new ones work, though -- so not entirely sure if that's what you bump into when you insert a tampon. Again, speak to your doc, and get her or him to check it out.

your bits and pieces will still be a bit tender after the insertion. the bleeding should stop after a while. i'm on my 2nd merina, after having it changed after 5 years. i've had no periods what so ever, it's great.

I have an IUD. This is my 2nd one in the past 3 years. I have never had this problem. I use tampons also. With any IUD side effect is heavy periods. You should expect them actually. I haven't had too many problems with that but it's expected with this form of birthcontrol. As long as you can feel your string and its still there.. I wouldn't worry too much.

i had mirena also and i also bled i found that for the first month your just going to feel weird in there. as for the bleeding it will stop give it time. call your doctor if it lasts to much longer but as far as i remember i bled for like a month almost. but i promise after the first month this will be the best thing ever. because for me after that first month i never had another period and personally that was worth it all.
