That is because Canadians mind there own business. Here in America we have all the Bible thumpers pushing there beliefs on everyone. Someday freedom of religion or no religion will again be observed.

Wow!! This is really sick to see all these evil liberals justifying the murder of an unborn child. Saying that a woman has rights over an unborn child that can't speak for itself is the most selfish thing I have ever heard. I am proud to be Christian and to know that having a child is the most beautiful experience in the world. There is always adoption for those aren't fit to raise a child. Don't get pregnant in the first place. How about that? Don't bring up the rape thing. A wonderful life can come from a horrible event. To defend murder is really sad and the lowest of lows. I don't know why I would expect more from a liberal. Liberals support all the evils of the world. These are the truly selfish of the world. These are the people that see good as evil. Isn't that sad?

You need to be 14 to get an abortion without parental consent, however the clinic and therapist will encourage a young girl to reach out to her family for support.

As for birth control, having accessible and affordable birth control clinics only serves to keep young Canadians safer. Teenagers are going to have sex. It is best that they are able to get free and confidential protection and education, rather than spreading disease and bringing unwanted children into this world.

Abortion is, in most cases, an elective medical procedure. Since a minor cannot legally give consent for an elective medical procedure, parental consent is necessary. The only exception to this rule would be if a minor's life is in immediate danger. The rule that requires parental consent for an abortion in the United States is consistent with other laws regarding medical procedures and minors.

I think this is something that should be given a lot of thought a person has to live with this the rest of their life. And if you care about children and believe in the Bible and God this is going to affect any girl, lady or woman for the rest of their life. The question is a heart felt question and I really don't believe in them myself but everyone has to live with what they do and I think a parent should know what the girl can handle but in some cases it could be a mistake to put in the hands of a parent who is just looking out for their own interest, and I don't believe this option should be forced on no one!

there's even some states in where the school districts have an "emergency" medical treatment form for parents to sign, that if your newly pregnant young teenage daughter goes to their guidance counsellor afraid to tell her parents, the school can go and take her to get an abortion; because you've already given "permission" to the school.

that is what is BULL PATTIES!!

Canada has the right idea. If you don't know that your child is having sex. why should they care if she has an abortion. Its amazing how no one ever ask where were the parents. But then all of a sudden it's okay for them to stop the abortion (in the US). Obvously crappy parents. and the child should be taken out of the home.

I'm a mom of two (young) girls, so I can understand why people are offended by this. I truly can. BUT...

There are A LOT of girls who are not lucky like mine. They don't have parents who they can go to for help, advise, or support. We need to ensure that they are able to make choices about their health without risking a bad confrontation with their parents. I think they should get some sort of counseling to help them along, but I do believe that every girls and woman should have access to birth control and abortion (as terrible as abortion is, for some people, it is the only viable option).

(Bring on the thumbs down!)
