The icon examples given by you are probably not acceptable to many for one reason or the other. Of late icon image is being promoted and so one needs a promoter- preferably by persons with political power supported by media. Further India as a whole may not learn as you want because the country is passing throw a period of disintegration and coalition governments. Only when integrated the country as a whole will accept individual icons. In any case you better change your definition of icons.

Indians are narrow minded and have a short memory so when they find about someones wrong doings they just take that person to task even though he may be innocent this is a basic problem associated with all indians so we have to jus correct our attitude
