Why americans hate him so much?

Nothing.
A lot of people think he acts like a know-it-all, tries to shove his morals down people's throats, wants people to substitute his judgment for theirs, cares only about his TV show or think people's private lives do not belong on TV.
My response to them would be that from what I've seen (and I've seen quite a bit) he is right on about what is happening with people, he IS very caring, and the people that are on TV AGREED to be there. I like him.

I know a lot of Americans see him for what he is, a joke. I've known people who have been invited to appear on his show and the whole thing was set up to discredit them, they NEVER got a chance to tell their side of the story at all. His show tends to reflect his own personal biases, anyone that does not agree is put down. He's overbearing, and certainly no counselor in any sense of the word. I can't stand him and refuse to watch his propogandist show or read his books.

I am American and I don't hate Dr. Phil, I just dislike that he thinks he knows everything, and that he can solve anyones problems.

I like Dr. Phil.
People don't like him because he highlights the truth of the situation and people don't like to hear the truth about their mistakes.

His show is dumb. It exploits peoples problems by bringing all of their private issues out into a public forum.

comes on to strong , almost acts like he's attacking the person who asked for help, and acts like a know-it-all.

I don't know anyone who hates him. I think he is interesting, and some of his down-home witticisms are wonderful.
