I went to public school but I would seriously consider home schooling my kids. The schools I attended lacked a lot of details. My husband is multi lingual so my kids also would learn many languages like him.

homeschooling
my newphew who is 12, has been homeschooled his whole life. Kid is smarter than any public educated kid I've met ( partly due to genetics as well )
Homeschooling is a different animal today. They do socialize more and do more things. The homeschool program my nephew belongs to, each parent has to take a turn teaching something of value.
I feel that homeschooling is better for the fact that kids cannot be picked on for not having the coolest clothes or hair or being poor maybe or not fitting in. I feel schools these days donot do the job they are supposed to and either do parents.
BUT I also feel that kids who are homeschooled should be tested on their knowledge in a netural place ( other than their home ) and the test be harder than public schools.
My sister in law who lives here In NC had a kid in her class that was homeschooled and his mom took his tests for him , hes 11 yrs old and in the 3rd grade, SO thats why I say testing for homeschool should be held not in the home.

I like public school better because I felt like it helped me to deal with a lot of different typs of people, as opposed to homeschooling I hung out with the homeschool crew and some people form public schools, but when I got to college it was like culture shock. I think I would have been more prepared going to a public shcool.

You've hit on one of the important issues...the socialization. However, you did not address the other concern: the qualifications needed to teach the more advanced subjects to your children. I do remember having some friends who home schooled their kids and they were lacking in social skills such as now they needed to way their turn in line.
Personally, I have my daughter in a private Christian school. It is a sacrifice, but well worth it.

I would have preferred home school because i hated private school and public school but if I had HOME SCHOOL then I'd prefer a lively fun teacher and not my mother

I liked public school I went to catholic school in first grade. I liked it too. Home schoolers seem isolated to me.
