heeeyss. do you know why did the crusades prove disastrous for the byzantine empire? && why have so many wars been fought over the region called the holy land? i dont understand: how did the motives of the first crusades differ from those of the last crusaders? thankss<33

I think it was the 4th crusade that turned on the byzantine empire and sacked it. I'm not sure, please check

BTW, if you watched the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" (with Orlando Bloom and Eva Green as lead characters), it is somewhere between the 2nd crusade and the start of 3rd crusade. Nice movie.

In the Chirldren's Crusade, it is believed that the very presence of the innocent will bring down the walls. Most of them died on the way, the few that survived were captured and sold as slaves. Their presence did not bring down the walls, though it can also be argued that they are no longer innocent when they got there.
