After getting blood drawn and they do whatever needs to be done, what do they do with the samples? Where do they go? Just curious.

They use the samples (usually 2 viles) to run all kinds of tests, then your blood gets washed away with medical chemicals. The test results can often be sent to your Dr or to a survey that the Dr is participating with.

They can't use your blood for someone else, without your permission. =o)

Well,
After the blood has been tested and it is no longer needed it is sent to a Bio-Hazardous waste management.
But years ago blood was just simply poured down the drain into the sewer supply...Nasty thought.

They go to the Lab of course for testing.

Tests
Complete Blood Count - RBC's, hemoglobin, and hematocrit
Important to the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. White Blood Cells indicate immune deficiency.

Blood Grouping and cross matching - Determined in case blood transfusion is required during or after surgery.

Serum Electrolytes - Evaluates fluid and electrolyte status.

Fasting blood glucose - High levels could possibly mean you have diabetes mellitus

blood urea nitrogen and creatinine - renal function (kidneys)

serum albumin/total protein - your nutritional status

urinalysis - determines urine composition and possible abnormal components or infection ie. UTI
