I am getting over this huge sinus cold and my nose has been dripping for like two days. All I do is wipe it and blow my nose. Well this has made my nose very sore and raw especially by the nostrils. it hurts. any way to relieve the pain? Also I was running a fever and my step mom was trying to take care of me but she was just adding blankets on top of me! I was trying to tell her that I was running a FEVER but she was like "Here put this heating pad on you. Is she right. My real mom used to tell me to not stay under the covers as much as possible. Even if i was shaking with chills to stay under a sheet and have an ice pack on your head. Who's right?

your mom .......(of coarse)
step mom must not have any kids of her own..or is clueless.
anyways, you can apply a small amount of Vaseline into the nostrils to help with pain form your nose being raw and irritated...it also helps to lubricate it to prevent further irritation....as for the fever if you still have it take some Tylenol and stay out of the blankets..have dad take you to the doctor if not getting any better.

I would first have that step mom run out and get you puffs pluff with aloe. It'll help with the nose soreness. Your basically chaffing the skin with the tissue. In the meantime, you can just dab a very nice moisturizing lotion on the nose to help. :)

If you are cold.. cover up. If your warm... don't. I don't think either mom is right. Your body will tell you what to do..just listen to it.

I can tell you that my last cold.. I found this wonderful product called Shower Soothers by Sudacare. You drop a tablet in the bottom of the shower and it clears the nose and sinus. I used it with a really hot steamy shower and it felt so wonderful on my achy sinuses.

Good luck and feel better soon!

PS Tell the moms to cook some chicken noodle soup! *hugs*

Sorry to tell you, but neither is right. Neither remedy will work for treating a fever. The fever is not a disease in and of itself, but it is a symptom of one. You can cure a disease, but you can only treat (or alleviate) a symptom. The only thing that will reduce a fever is ibuprofen (Tylenol) and plenty of clear fluids.

If you have severe sinus congestion AND a fever, you might have a sinus infection which isn't going to clear up without antibiotics. If your fever last more than three days, I would get to a doc to make sure it isn't sinusitis.

Step mom is trying to give you comfort, right or wrong she has made an effort for your sake. Be nice.
