Seriously, I've seen some black women that are in their 50's and they look like they are in their 20's. I've noticed this a lot. What is their secret!?

Y!A Princess... you seriously find this offensive? It is a serious question and I mean no offense to anyone. In fact, I'm jealous of their young apperance.

We black women age gracefully because it's in our blood. We do take care of our skin and for those of us that don't, it's still just natural. The melanin also helps a great deal.
I do understand what you are saying because my aunt is in her 60's and everyone thinks she is in her late 30's. If I didn't know her I wouldn't believe it either. We were just blessed that way.
Thank you for the compliment.
I do on a daily basis see a lot of caucasian women who tell me their age and I'm like "Oh goodness" because they look so much older...or they actually look their age...But there have also been women of color who I have seen who look really bad. I have learned that they have lived a hard life of violence and drugs and it destroyed them so not all black women look younger, but most of us do.
Thanks again for the compliment Gin.

It's genetics and the melanin in our skin. We have more of it so we don't age as fast. I thought this was a nice thing you said about us. It's good to know that people like you have something positive to say. Some people take offense to a question like this. It doesn't mean that we are better in any way, it's just something that we were blessed with. Just like other races are blessed with things that another race doesn't have. Our ancestors had to have thick skin living in Africa. It all makes sense seeing where all of out ancestors lived back then. Europeans wouldn't have needed this thick skin because they weren't in the hot African sun. I thought you asked a great question.

Skin color is determined by cells called melanocytes. All races have the same number of these cells. Melanosomes are structures in the melanocytes that produce the pigment melanin. There are more and larger melanosomes in darker-skin melanocytes than in those of lighter skin. People with skin of color are better protected against skin cancer and premature wrinkling from sun exposure!

Not only do they have great melanin, but they moisturize their skin all the time because their skin tends to be much drier than a person who is caucasian or any other race. The more moisturizer you use, the more elasticity your skin will have. So...if you would like healthy looking skin with fewer signs of aging, moisturize everyday.

Follow some of the tips below to keep your skin as healthy as possible:

Stay out of the sun (your skin is beautiful the way it is)
Moisturize to keep its elasticity
Dont smoke, do drugs or drink alcohol...this will cause bad skin.
Eat a sensible diet
Drink Plenty Of Water
And Exercise

Black people in general don't age as quick due to higher amounts of melanin in our skin. Unless your hitting the bottle everyday or doing a lot of drugs, you can stay looking young for a pretty long time.

I think it is their dark skin. Just for an example about dark skin, my husband is Native American, 31, hardly has a wrinkle. Me on the other hand, you could say I am white, 25, and am finding wrinkles everyday under my eyes and forehead. My husband told me that his skin looks better because he is naturally darker.

the melanin in the skin keeps the damaging sun rays from frying the body and so the skin doesnt wrinkle and look leathery with old age, or it goes slower for that matter

not trying to be funny but not many black women are fond of the sun, a lot of different cultures spend hours in the sun tanning their skin getting skin burns and all that stuff
