None. You can heat water without using any unit of measurement. It's so simple, a cave man could do it (and they did).

Anyhow, if you add heat to water, it gets hotter. If you add a little heat, it gets a litter hotter. If you add a lot, it gets a lot hotter. It doesn't matter how much water you have.

If you want to ask, what is the metric unit for heat energy, then ask another question. Same if you want to know how much energy it takes to heat 1 kg of water from 20 C to boiling.
