Republicans never seem to complain when the tax $ is used for Military genocide but when it's for schools or Health care it's a different story. The democrats are nearly as bad and might be better liars - who knows.

How do you think the roads are maintained? With Tax dollars! I don't want to pay higher taxes but common sense tells me that they are required. Conservatives are easily manipulated by the notion of raised taxes. Simpletons.

Well, I'm not a Republican, but I can guess because conservatives are tired of paying for social programs that have a 60% overhead and hurt more people than they help.
You wanna meet some people that don't want their taxes raised? Talk to a libertarian, a minarchist, or an anarcho-capitalist. All of those people want government shrunk to the size specifically dictated in the Constitution. Problem solved.

Mostly because we believe it is our money! Not the governments, and that since socialism is defined by taking from those that produce to support those that are too lazy to produce anything. We feel that taking our money and redistributing it to those who have done nothing to better themselves will only encourage lethargy.
It is a statistical fact that conservatives give more to charities than do liberals. That is because we believe that charities can do a better job of assisting those in need. And also because liberals want to feel better about themselves by taking other peoples hard earned money and giving it to those "less fortunate" while not making any sacrifices themselves.
It is also because Conservatives believe in a faith based value system, that is much more effective and efficient than any government bureaucracy.
Given the debacle that is our welfare system, our SS system and our Medicare/Medicaid system it is quite evident that an entity like the Salvation Army can do a much better job than a bunch of pompous politicians.
So the question should be why do liberals think that raising taxes is always the answer to every problem. Is it because they see government as the solution to everything?
Ronald Reagan said: "Government is not the answer to the problem, Government is the problem."

Bush wants 100 Billion for the Afganistan and Iraq wars, so how do you think that he's going to get the money? He won't say that he's going to raise taxes but it will be in "hidden taxes". How do you think he is paying for the military? He's playing funny business with the national debt which in turn will create higher taxes down the road. As anyone knows, borrowing is never free money. It always costs more to borrow money and pay it back later.
Bush wants you to believe that he is not wanting to "raise taxes", but he's just like his old man, the new tax and spend Republicans!

Raising taxes hurts the overall economy.
Further, raising and maintaining a military is a legitimate federal mandate, granted by the Constitution. Education is a state issue, and health care is a private one.
I've said it for years, and your "question" proves it yet again: there has never been a liberal who comprehends fundamental economics or federalism.

Nobody is scared of anything. I just don't think you, and your liberal friends are best suited to decide how to spend my money. If you aren't "scared" to have your taxes raised why not offer to pay a higher percentage of your paycheck? Like maybe 60 or 75 percent.

Because if I bust my a$$ to make a living, everyone else should as well. It's mine, I earned it. I don't mind paying taxes to help pay for the nation's infrastructure since I use it, but there is no way I should have to pay more taxes to help those who REFUSE to help themselves at all. That being said, I donate to charity and donate time at varous non-profits where at least there I can see where my efforts go in terms of sweat-equity.

There two types of GOP members. Little Rhetoric Republicans who believe in their cliches because it makes them feel good. There is the Smart Big Republicans who use these cliches to trick the Little Rhetoric Republicans into blindly flowing them. See they talk about smaller government, but they're the ones feeding at the federal troft and setting up offshore accounts so they don't have to give back what they looted from the tax payers. In reality, Little Rhetoric Republicans are confused about how did this happen, but they're to prideful to admit they have been duped by their slick big brother. The proof is in the contract for America...Promise of smaller government to get a chance to rule...then when in power the Big Republicans proved the loooooove spending money more than the Democrats. And that's a lot of spending. Oooh! I know the truth hurts.

It is a responsibility of the national government to provide for defense. It is not a responsibiity to provide for health care, retirement benefits, or many of the other things (collectively, and sometimes individually) far more expensive than defense.

I suppose arrogance and a very self-centered, and short term world view.
Economically, it is the (dying) middle class that does most of the spending (say 70-80%). Economically the very wealthy contribute very little to society, as the purchase of luxury items makes up a tiny portion of our economy.
The items that drive the economy as regards spending are middle class items... and historically, in the US and Europe, that group has made up the majority element of the spending on major items (cars, refrigerators, TV's) as well as the minor items (diapers, toilet paper, widgets...).
In the US the truly rich make up a very small proportion of the population (<5%) and the middle class is dying, turning into the poor.
The Republicans simply don't want to lose their tremendous advantage politically, and indirectly economically. Their power base is money... not people...
And quite simply, as I mentioned - they are short sighted and greedy people, with no sense of the long term impact of their policies.

It is not about being scared, it is about taking from one to give to another. Wealth redistribution. Everyone seems alright with tax hikes, as long as they effect those that are in a higher tax bracket than themselves.
