I NEED ONE HALF TO BE DARK AND THE OTHER HALF TO BE LIGHT, BUT NO LIGHT CAN SHINE THROUGH. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS, IF SO THIS COULD REALLY HELP ME OUT, AND THEN I WOULD PICK ONE OF YOU FOR BEST ANSWER. THANK YOU THIS QUESTION NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED A.S.A.P.

I suggest using a box to cover the "dark" tank. Cover it with dark paint or paper so that as little light as possible gets through; make sure there is still adequate ventilation, of course, possibly by using an air pump. If you do this, you really don't have to use a closet - you can simply have your tanks side-by-side anywhere, with one (or more - not exactly sure from your question) shielded from light as appropriate for the experiment.

Maybe you could get a couple of cardboard boxes that are big enough to cover your fish tanks that have to be kept in the dark.
That way you could keep one uncovered and under a light all the time. One could be covered with a box at night, but uncovered during the day. And one could be kept covered and in the dark all the time.

Instead of using your closet why don't you cover the one you want kept in the dark with a pillow case or a cardboard box or something like that.
When you have to feed it you can just turn the light off and remove the pillow case/box and feed it.....................
