This is a Repeate Question in Yahoo Answers and i have answered it twice before.

The speed of your internet connection depends on many factors.

1. The time at which you are browsing.
2. The Traffic on your link which is generally shared by other users.
3. The Load on your ISP
4. The Location of the server you are trying to access
5. The Load on the webserver you are trying to access at that time.

If you want to know how good your connection is go to google.com and serach for Internet Speed Testers and u will get some sites which would tell you what is your connection speed. But personally i dont feel that the results are accurate.

If you want to know in real time whats the speed of the internet you are using you can use software like DU Meter.

Go to www.download.com and search for du meter. Its a shareware software for 30 day use. It will show you in real time how much upload and download in KBps you are doing.

Apart from that it will also have daily, weekly and monthly bandwidth utilization reports.

If you have a datalimit connection from BSNL or Airtel with 1GB limit of so. You can always keep trac of your bandwidth utilization using such tools.

If you need any further clarifications pelase get back to me.

That's really easy, just right click on your network icon in the bottom right system tray (top right for mac) and open the network and sharing center. Then click the connection and a properties tab should pop up. On that tab there is a list of the properties, and one of them is speed which says the number of Mbps (Megabytes per second). Hope this helps!
