that it hurts really bad to get shot in the face

there is no getting around that. now go to a local store where paintball gear is sold hopefully with one of your friends who already play and ask the store what you need to get started. they will be plenty helpful...but take that friend so you don't buy stuff you don't need like camoflage nose wipes...have fun

Wear old clothes, preferably dark in color. Old camos work great. Wear a comfortable pair of boots, cleats, hiking boots, or high-top sneakers. Don't forget to bring extra clean clothes for the ride home. Don't wear a good watch or jewelry. If you do, it will no longer be a good watch, and you'll probably be needing new jewelry.

If you get hit by a paintball fired from close range (20 feet or less) it does sting a bit. Most people will tell you that after the first time you've been hit, it rarely is even an issue. There are many different type of games played including "capture the flag", "attack and defend", etc. Game usually last between twenty and forty minutes. Most fields play at least six to eight games per day. More often than not, the regular players at the field are more than friendly and are willing to help the newer players. The same goes for field owners and managers. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Don't stand in the open for too long. It is wise to re-load your paintballs, or just catch your breath, from behind a tree or bunker. You'll be shocked at how many times you can be eliminated from a long way off. Never remove your goggles on the field or in the elimination zone. Newer players tend to want to remove their goggles as soon as they're eliminated from the game. This is extremely dangerous. Do not remove the goggles until you are back at the safe zone or in the staging area.

Wear padding if you've never played before. I guess they're going to supply you with a gun and a mask and paint and air?
It doesn't hurt that much to get hit by a paintball, but still; it's cold in most places, and if the paintballs are cold, they don't bust as easily, and because they're so cold, they hurt more.
If these people are speed-ballers, be prepared. These kinds of people play (ruin) paintball with rapid-firing, which hurts more, because instead of getting hit with one or two, you'll get hit with 7 or 8.
In any case, just be sneaky and bold and don't be afraid to yell and charge someone - you'd be surprised with the results. Have fun.

Just use your instinct and hide when possible and shoot others as much as you can! Just ask them for specific rules since it varies depending on who you play with and the such. You need to know how to hold a paintball gun but that is simple.

to start off get a cup. there will be acidental shots there but some people are turds and will shoot there. as far as the gun get a tippmann 98 custom or custom pro. they come with everything you need as far as mask and tank. for clothes a simple long sleeve shirt and some jeans will do fine. game hid as well as you can, sneak up on people as well as you can and thn shoot them at a distance of about 20 feet. it really hurts when you get shot by someone inside 20 feet

First thing isn't to get hit! But you must make sure you wear your equipment right for safety purposes.Try to stay out of sight of your competitors, see them don't let them see you and shoot them no higher than the chest for safety reasons.

The first thing I would ask myself? Are they truly my friends? Or am I being set up?
