My Dear Friend,

First of all, Limewire is Hard Spyware. It will demolish your entire computer system and throw all your personal information on share...I request you NOT TO USE LIMEWIRE AT ALL.

Better to use Bit-torrent software or more better buy a affordable CD/DVD.

Take care of your computer more...It will take care of you in coming days.

Expecting Success...Always.

Limewire in itself is not illegal. However, depending on the material that is being shared it might be illegal.

1.) Any copyright protected material, which includes: music, music vidoes, concerts, movies, TV, and photographs either in whole or in part. Legally, you do not have a right to this material unless you have either paid for it through the normal approved distribution channels, or it was provided to you free directly via a local TV station.

2.) Depending on the laws of where you live some material such as child pornograpy, beastiality, BDSM, rape and other subjects might be illegal.

About the only things that are legal to share over Limewire is material that people have created themselves (not by copying) and as long as it follows the restrictions of item #2 it should be ok.

All "legalese" aside, obtaining copywrited music without paying for it is illegal. So, Limewire itself may not be illegal, but using it is illegal.

"Major record companies sued two Minnesotans on Thursday for alleged copyright infringement, accusing the men of illegally distributing copyrighted music on the Internet..." (excerpt from the link below)

No. Its not illegal for your personal use.
If you share audio, video, etc for which you have legal copy right/ you bougt that leagally, then there is no problem.

And u can download legal/illegal copies from others that is illegal for you.

But if download illegal cpoies and try to sell or share with others it is illegal.

And if shere files which u bought illegally, then that is also illegal.

But most important think that don't worry nobody will catch you even if do so.

Copyrighted songs (most of the songs are copyrighted) on limewire are illegal, so I wouldn't take the chance.

From what I've heard, it is legal to download stuff from limewire. (Unless its like kiddie porn or something, obviously.) However, it is NOT legal to share your music with anyone else.

If you live in the USA or Australia it is. You have to buy your music in those countrys. Copyrighted songs are illegal, which is pretty much all of them.
