Most online "universities" are For Profit corporations that accept nearly all applicants. Many employers would not take an online degree seriously for this reason.

In addition, some of the better known online universities are guilty of sleazy practices. The University of Phoenix was recently fined a record $9.8MM by the Department of Education for illegal recruiting practices and is currently being investigated for lying about their placement numbers.

Go to a real university.

Depends on the online school. Canada has a few universities online that are highly respected, but there are some out there that are well crappy.

I would do not see them as the same. Traditional degrees are harder to get.
