they used to wear white helmets in the day and due to NFL regualtions they had to use another color at night so they used orange for night games. They later adopted the orange as their official helmet color. Orange being the favorite color of Brown's son that had recently died.

There are a lot of things in Cleveland that don't make sense. I think I heard that they were named after Paul Brown some years ago.

Because in 1938 owner, Paul Brown couldn't decide on what to name his newly formed team when one of business partners told him to name the team the "Browns" and the name just stuck. The helmet is orange to honor his son, who tragicaly died in a car acciendent two years before he bought the team. (Orange was his favorite color.)

Probably because they are named after a person and not the color of their jerseys. Plus, how much brown do you freakin want, add some orange.

They're orange because the team is trash and their draft picks never make any sense so their uniforms might as well be trash and not make any sense either

Becuase, they are not named the Browns for their uniform color (which still has a lot of brown in it). They are named for their founder, Paul Brown.
