Well, that really ticks me off. First of all I have a life, I don't have a lifestyle. I'm not shoving anything down anyones throat. I would never be that forward. I'm here, I matter, I participate, how is that shoving anything? In no way do I ask people retarded questions within the realm of my faiths perameters. Where do so many of you get off doing that to others? How dare you presume that your chosen path to glory is the only path there is? I am so sick of hearing all these right wing evangelical bigots using G-d as a weapon and getting press and play for it.

Religon is like underwear. It's meant to be worn under your clothes. You either wear it or you dont. It's a choice and you deal with the consequences. It's no one elses business.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

Milkbone you ALWAYS make sense...you're the most sensible person on here. Wouldn't it be great if for one week all the straight people could experience what it's like to be the "minority?" Then perhaps they would understand us. It's written somewhere that to know someone you have to walk a mile in their shoes. Too bad more people aren't willing to be more open-minded.

And I just can't leave it alone...you say you're not shoving anything down anyone's throat....I'm sure you've got something you can shove down mine. ;-)

life·style /ˈlaɪfˌstaɪl/ –noun
the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level, etc., that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group.

OK, the issue here involves your habits, tastes, and moral standards that constitute your mode of living, so yes, we ARE dealing with your lifestyle. We all have a life and a "style" by which we live it.
You said, "...loudmouths say that gay people are shoving their 'lifestyle' down the throats of normal people". You are gay. You are NOT "gay people". So, no one is accusing YOU of doing anything. The accusation is a generalization to a group who share a similar LIFESTYLE as you. Relax, and quit being defensive.
You didn't specify what your "faith" is, but you made a comparison of it to evangelicals using God as a weapon, so I assume you are of some sort of Christian faith, else the comparison would be invalid. If this is so, then no matter what denomination you are you MUST use the Bible as your standard and basis of your faith. If this also is true, then you MUST read the following verses and take them to heart if you TRULY believe in God and His word:
Leviticus 18:22, 1Corinthians 6:9-11, Romans 1:26,27, Jude 7, Luke 17:28,29, and 2Timothy3:16. Enjoy...
Wherever you picked up the philosophy that "Religion is like underwear" you need to take it back for a refund!
If you are a "Christian" then you well know that while it is true that "it's a choice and you deal with the consequences", it is also a Christian's duty to try and educate others in the WHOLE truth about God and HIS standards. Anyone unwilling to be taught THE WHOLE TRUTH and not just the parts they like cannot honestly call themselves a Christian, can they?
Think about it...

It makes perfect sense...

to continue your analogy of "Religon is like underwear. It's meant to be worn under your clothes. You either wear it or you dont. It's a choice and you deal with the consequences. It's no one elses business." there are some things that should be looked at.

When gay people want to get married, they are told they do not have "the right underwear".

When gay couples want to file joint tax returns, they are told they do not have "the right underwear".

When a gay person wants to add their partner on their health insurance, they are told they do not have "the right underwear".

When a gay person wants to visit an ill partner in a hospital, they are told they do not have "the right underwear".

When a gay person inherits their partners interest on a jointly owned home upon their partners death, they are told they do not have "the right underwear".

Gay people don't publicize their "underwear", and it is those who are opposed to gay people that have a peculiar need to look.

i'm a Christian. yet I agree that, on many activities, Christians do shove their faith down different persons's throats. each and each time somebody tells an atheist that they are going to hell through reality that they don't sense- it incredibly is persecution. The property you suggested approximately young babies getting suspended, that would not maximum generally take place and that i agree that it incredibly is incorrect. despite if as far as educating evolution... beneficial, i've got faith that it incredibly is maximum appropriate that youngsters learn evolution, instead than something their lecturers take place to have faith. Evolution is almost a confirmed reality (to not factor out, it does not conflict with faith the way all of us seems to sense it does), whilst religions are faith-based. different than for, if we are talking approximately persecution and stereotypes, enable's look at your assertion "If the human beings had it their means we’d all be ineffective slaughtered like Hitler did to the Jews." you're needless to say merely claiming that each physique atheists desire all Christians ineffective. do not you think it incredibly is slightly persecuting and stereotypical? look at it from all angles.

I gotcha, totally agree, there's nothing wrong with religion, it's just how these idiots try to abuse it in politics. Religion is everyones little personal thing but these ******* dont get it. I hate when people say BS like: It's Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. To sum it up in the words of a gay person i know: it would never be Adam and Steve, It would be Adam and Steven

It makes sense to me, the world would be better off if people minded their own business. Unfortunately, some religious followers are pressured to 'save' everybody. And if that means invading your rights, well, they'll say that's what's best for you.

religion is an extremely touchy subject, i agree

im catholic and i know that it says in the bible apparently that a man and a woman can only be together

but to me...if g-d is the person who ive grown up to know is extremely forgiving and loving

why would he hate ANY type of people? that doesnt make sense to me. he can say i love people of any race..religion...ect...but not gays? thats rediculous. he should..and in my mind he DOES love all

people use bibles as a weapon to cover up their own bigot remarks.

thats how i feel about it. it makes me sick when people fight over this type of living..its not hurting anyone so why does it matter?

I agree with you on some points and disagree with you on some points.

First of all, I agree that there are plenty of gay people who aren't actively trying to proselytize, as it were.

However, I disagree that religion should be somehow secret. I think it's pretty obvious when a person is truly living his/her religion; you can see it in their actions. Most religions teach good principles that help people to love one another and live peaceful lives. Nobody is perfect at living his/her religion, but we shouldn't condemn people who are truly trying.

There really are absolutes that God has commanded us to do and not to do. For example, God does not want us to have any kind of sexual relations outside of marriage between a man and a woman. This means that homosexual behavior is incorrect in the eyes of God. So I don't see it as necessarily "using God as a weapon" when people say that they think that homosexual behavior is wrong.

(Notice that I say "behavior"; I do not claim to say that it's inappropriate to experience same-sex attraction. But it's definitely inappropriate to act on it if you do experience it.)

I agree that it's inappropriate to treat people with anything less than love because we disagree with their choices. All of us sin but just in different ways. Jesus Christ was known for spending time with sinners; should we be unwilling to share our love with people whose actions we do not endorse? And part of truly loving people is trying to help them to have better lives. And as long as this is motivated out of love, I don't see a problem with it. God loves all His children, and he wants us all to become better people and do what's right.

I once saw a television report about a protest (I believe it was a counter-protest to a gay pride parade) where a minister, complete with black shirt and white collar was shown shouting, "God hates gays!" I thought that was so sad.

You are 100% right. Bigots love to use any reference to God as a means of justifying their need to be intolerant and hateful. Hypocritical control freaks!
