Well, the whole genre of "emo" is based on the word "emotional" because it usually talks about sad things... soooo... pretty much any artist who considers themself to be "emo" probably writes sad songs.
I think that almost any Bright Eyes song would be a great example of a sad emo song. I looove Conor Oberst...even though sometimes his lyrics are depressing.
