I have a dating ultrasound in 2 wks because my Dr said my HCG levels are stronger than expected for a 6wk pregnancy. I read that the 2 indications of high HCG levels are: miscalculation of pregnancy dates OR multiple pregnancy. I have NO twins on my side of the family but my husband has 4 consecutive sets of twins on his mother's side. Could it be possible that I am pregnant with twins? I have a 10 yo boy & a 4 month old boy. I am 35 years old. I am bottlefeeding, breastfed for about 2 months. I had a elective c-section with my second son. I have a little bit of nausea, no vomiting as yet. I didn't have any nausea with my other children. I showed early with both my pregnancies. Hard to tell if I am already showing with this one because I still have my tummy from my second son.
Thank You :-)

Every person in the fathers family could be a twin and it wouldn't make any difference to your pregnancy. To make it more likely for a person to have twins, it needs to run on the woman's side, since she's the one who needs to release mroe than one egg at a time. Identical twins are spontaneous, and don't run in families.

That said, the older a woman is, the more likely she is to spontaneously release an extra egg, kind of as the body's way of upping the reproductive chances before menopause starts (not that I'm saying you're old enough to start that or anything). Another thing is that when the body is getting back on track after a baby, it could release multiple eggs, or it could not release one at all that month.

My cousin just went through this a few months ago. Her levels were high enough that the doctor speculated she may be having triplets, but it was in fact just one baby.

Good luck, congratulations on your pregnancy and your new little one, and I hope you get the ultrasound results you're hoping for!

yes there is a possibility you could be carrying twins. The chances of concieving twins increases after 35 even when they dont run in the family. Usually with twins pregnancy symptoms are more exagerated. But who knows your going to have to wait til the ultrasound to know for sure. Best of luck!

I showed at 6 weeks and showed a strong HCG level at 5 weeks in the middle of the day. I only have one baby in there ( a boy!) Anyway the doctor just said that means I am very pregnant adn it is stable):

Also, turns out I was pregnant earlier.. my due date was moved up 4 days

Well I'm not sure if it is twins or not, but I do know that the father has nothing to do with it being twins. Either you release 2 eggs (or one splits into 2) or you don't. The sperm just fertilizes whats there.......

It could very well be multiples. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant with twins.I have one set of twins in my family, she has none. It is very possible.

sure there's a probability you will possibly desire to be donning twins. the possibilities of concieving twins will advance after 35 even while they dont run interior the family individuals. many times with twins being pregnant indications are extra exagerated. yet who is familiar with your going to might desire to attend til the ultrasound to be attentive to for particular. ultimate of success!

The chances of twins occuring increases as you get older. And, doubly so if you have them in your family.
