Once upon a long time ago, a girlfriend and I both skipped work at the same restaurant on a Friday night to go to a party. We didn’t even call… so the only excuse we could come up with to try to justify it was to say that we got arrested that night. It was a complete lie, of course, but we definitely wound up with interesting reputations… especially as we both refused to say why. Imaginations ran wild. We never did fess up either. But we had a helluva lotta fun at the party.

General Westmoreland who always asked that we work 60 hours perweek in the Casualty branch in Vietnam. asked me on a Friday evening if i were going to get my 60 hours in that week, I kindly told him that I had already worked 120 hours so far and would sure appreciate an hour or two of sleep before the weekend was over. He evidently felt sorry for me and gave me a full day off. I looked in the mirror and realized that my eyes were swollen almost shut and realized he was a human being after all.

I once found myself in the situation where I was in bed and having sex with 2 girls at the same time. I had always wanted to do this but never had. It was my dream come true. The only problem was that it was time for me to go to work. I wasn't going to give up my dream situation so I called my boss and told him the truth and that it was my dream come true. When I made the call I thought he might fire me but he didn't, he just laughed and said I could have the day off.

Before my Dad died, every so often I took a Thursday off, just to spend extra time with him after my Mother died. I would tell them at work that I had to take him to the doctors, and sometimes I did, but other times we just went out to eat, or I would make dinner, or we would go look at cars that he liked, or something that he enjoyed doing. Shortly after that, he had a stroke and died, and I never regreted all those Thursdays, I took off to have some borrowed time, with my Dad!

"my daughter was playing with play-doh, came up behind me and put in my hair! it's stuck everywhere! i know you don't want me to come to the office with play-doh-hair, and i can't get it out, so i need to go get it all cut off, so i'm not going to be able to come in today! can i have tomorrow off to cope with this emotionally as well?"

i used this excuse because i had a day at the spa planned and i forgot i had to work. i was planning on a dramatic new haircut anyway! and i got the next day off to show off my new hairdo around town!
