Early Federalists and Population distribution?

I need help. Again. Our teacher assaigned us this homework and he did not explain it. it is not in our text book, call to freedom. can you help me? I just need it to be explained, not done for me.

In a complete paragraph, discuss the following question' How did the population distribution in the early United States work to the disadvantage of the Federalists?'

Federalists supported centralized government over
de-centralized or states rights representation. As the young country began to migrate to new areas and expected statehood, the union became larger and more spread out making it difficult for a central government to maintain control. This was a time before mass communication were staying in contact and being able to effect social change at distances made the Federalist ideals difficult at best in a fledgling country where everyone expected individual rights.
