Do you people think its dumb and pointless for colleges to require foreign language classes. For example OK St, requires 2 years of same language in High School or 10 hours of college. Im a Computer Science major, if the college is really preparing me for real life, how would knowing french help me build software?

I believe that taking a foreign language should be an option, not a requirement. However, everyday immigrants slip over into our country not understanding, or speaking English. Eventually it would probably be beneficial to learn Spanish, but not French, unless you plan on moving there.

It's not necessarily supposed to help you with your major. It's supposed to help you become a well-rounded person. You could have gotten a computer science degree from a tech school - you must have gone to college for a reason.

I took three years of Russian in college. It hasn't helped me in my career as a physicist - but French, Spanish, Chinese, or especially German would have by now. You never know when it could come in handy.

Learning a different language can be useful because it can help out with other customers, business can go overseas and because you know another language, they may want you to go. Since other countries are expanding, knowing another language may give you an advantage to people who do not know that language. I know one person who was hired only because he knew chinese. Plus, another language can be fun to learn and talk in.
