Iran is the last piece in BushOilCo's Middle East puzzle. With military bases now from Cairo to Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, we now control or influence all Middle East oil except for the oil in Iran. We have moved Aircraft Carriers to the Persian Gulf, and threaten Iran at every turn, while Bush threatened Iran in his apology speech. Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, and others drew this plan up in the 90's while at the PNAC, which included taking down Iraq, and barring some serious challenge by the American public, or the Congress, Iran will be next. It took FDR and an act of Congress to stop his grandfather Prescott from funding the Nazis even after WWII started, what will it take to stop George W. Bush?

I don't think in the present scenario US is going to invade Iran the way it was done with Iraq. The war with Iraq required tremendous lobbying and taking along the allies. They rallied against US, but this time they won't agree to do so. In that event US would remain a loner and given the fact that many soldiers have been killed in Iraq and the war had dragged on to the chagrin of more than half the American people, it is extremely doubtful that US would now do any misadventure with Iran.
But some kind of muscle flexing would continue. There may also be blowing of sirens a couple of times, and in the extreme, limited number of deep air strikes. A full scale war is an impossibility, whether or not some Americans nurture the dream of having some more control over the oil.

A bombing is likely but a full invasions like the one seen in Iraq is unlikely. The US just doesn't have the numbers to overwhelm the Iranian military so they'll resort to an aerial invasion.

Jon Stewart did a split screen of one of Bushes recent speeches.
It was the same speech he gave in 2003 about Iraq - almost
word for word.
I don't see how he can get away with it - but how he got this far,
amazes me.

Yes it is. War will never bring peace to the Middle East, only justice will.

No doubt yupchagee would disagree.
