They tried the metric system in the 70's. I remember teachers trying to teach us the metric system then because we were going to switch over, but the teachers couldn't explain it correctly. So the idea went out the window,I think it's because we're just plain too lazy to teach it right and learn it.

Soon as Congress demands it, there was a faint attempt in the 1970's. Lumber and liquor companies went metric. People are holding back. The education of the metric system will have to start in pre-school, kindergarten, and the schools have to stick to it for at least three generations, then it will take hold when all the inches and feet people have died off.

The USA seem to deliberately make themselves different to other nations in an order to rub their "independence" in everyone elses faces (as if we give a f*ck anyway).

Why do Americans spell words differently to other English speaking nations??? ie: color (colour), center (centre), mom (mum)..? There is no sensible reason for it.

I believe the answer to your 2 questions are 'never' and 'nothing'.

Hopefully, never. I hate the metric system, they tried making us learn it in middle school, it doesn't make sense..

Nope... the cost is too great - think about it. Everything (EVERYTHING) would have to change; gas pumps, food containers of every size, rulers & yardsticks, school systems, and all weights & measures.
