Bush referred to the left side of the room as the Democrat party instead of the Democratic party?
Was he trying to make a point or just slipped up when he said it? Or, was this just much ado about nothing?

I didn't care either, I didn't even notice.
But, obviously, several Democrats did and thought he was trying to demean them. I'm just asking what about the shorter form of the word is demeaning.

Well, when we refer to senators, we call them "Democrat Joe Biden", and the party as a whole as the Democratic Party.
So it's really much ado about nothing in my opinion. But to those who incessently find a need to complain about Bush, its probably worthy (to them) of criticism.

I honestly don't think this slip is such a large issue. Whenever John Kerry was running for president, he invented several new "words," but no one was offended by those new additions to the English language.

President Bush slips all too often when he talks, it could have been a slip it might not have, i think that if you get offended by something like that, you need to develop thicker skin in life otherwise you are going to be a virus in any workplace

Not offended at all. It just shows a person how petty the left can be when ignoring the real issues.

Much ado about nothing. I guess that there aren't any important issues these days, so it's become necessary to get upset by trivia.

As a Republican who votes for the best qualified person, dispite their party ... Not in the slightest!
I did not vote for King George, that would be dumb at best. He only won because the powers that be elected him! Not the North American people! There are greater powers at work here than most realize!
Prove it! I cannot!
Learn to read and you, too, may believe! (Not implying you can't read - only that you need read more)!

Our President is capable of anything verbally, like "most of our imports come from outside of the country." It seem the long term effects of his drinking are taking a heavy toll on the speech center in his brain. Democrat is only one of the more benign examples of his misspeak.

It could be a what was meant to be a nasty joke, but he does have a southern accent and he has a small disregard for proper grammar. So, either crappy joke or grammatical error.
