To me soulmate refers to someone or ones that you have a deep connection with. It could be a lover or friend even of the same sex. Someone that above and beyond no matter what is connected with you and will always be connected to you. I do believe that most people have more than one soulmate. A soulmate is just a person that you have a connection with on a deeper level.

You love asking all the deep questions, dontcha?. I'd say yes it's possible, in the sense that two people can "click", or feel a connection, without necessarily feeling an ounce of romanticism. Perhaps they have an intellectual click that really brings out their true personalities and expressions, but they're not attracted to each other enough to want to become lovers. On that note, I'd like to add that the most satisfying relationships are often based on the mental rather than the physical.

Absolutely. My best friend in the world is a woman. She's like my big sister. She's been beside me and I her through everything. Everything that has happened in our pasts that brought us together and made our relationship the way it is has made us nothing less than soulmates, yet there's never going to be any physical relationship between us. That's just the way we want it.

Yes, I think you can be soulmates with your child and of course you're not going to be their lover.

Absolutely...a soul mate doesn't even have to be someone of the opposite sex. A soul mate is someone who fills in the parts of your heart and soul that always felt missing and a true friend can fulfill that requirement regardless of gender so being lovers is not requisite for being soul mates.

Absolutely. Isn't that right? And just because they're soulmates doesn't mean communication is always easy.

sigh. you are making me realize how lovesick i can allow myself to be sometimes on the inside, even though i try to be a rock.
yes, i believe two people can be soulmates and distance, time, previous engagement, or they themselves can prevent the relationship from becoming intimate.
