I would say that it jumped the shark with the very first polar bear incident, only a few episodes in. It fits the definition of jts-ing: resorting to implausible, improbable, and/or rediciulous action to try to keep the show alive.

That being said, I still love it. It is partially the whole implausibility that makes it so appealing. WHY is there a polar bear on the island? Or a magic black cloud? Or magic recurring numbers that drive people insane?

When I first saw the commercials for it, (I started watching late,) I had assumed that it was a realistic show. I rented the DVDs for previous seasons, and it was nothing like what I thought. Kinda stupid, but entertaining and addictive, just like all good TV is.

They "Lost" me when the doctor got kidnapped by the Others. Now it's just weird, too many story lines.

Almost, not yet. How they handle rest of the season will be the dealbreaker for me.
