I don't use either, I've tried commercial tampons, organic tampons, sponge tampons, homemade tampons, commercial pads, organic pads, cloth pads, padded panties and most other options, without a doubt menstrual cups are FAR better than anything else.

I use a menstrual cup specifically a Mooncup which is a type of bell-shaped silicone menstrual cup, it's UK based which is why I went for that brand over Divacup or Lunette, but I also like them because of the markings on the inside and because they are a lot softer than Divacups.

If I didn't use a menstrual cup I'd seriously not be able to leave the house as I have menorrhagia (excessively heavy periods) so too heavy for tampons or pads even if I did want to use them (which I don't). I can just pop my cup in the morning and forget about my period for the whole day, they don't cause cramping or infections like tampons used to for me, and they aren't uncomfortable like commercial pads used to be – although I have tried cloth pads before and they are comfortable.

Menstrual cups are the only safe internal menstrual option, they are far safer and cleaner than tampons, they can be left in for up to 12 hours including at night and for sports like swimming and even before your period is due. They don't leak, they are also far cheaper, greener and generally a thousand times better than tampons.

If I had to choose between tampons and pads then it is obvious – pads – tampons are unhygienic and unsafe because of what they do to your vagina when you use them, as long as you use pads that are right for you then they are comfortable and safe.

Pads. It wasn't really my choice when I started my period, but I use Always. I don't have a problem with the feeling, and if I decide on wearing tight pants, I choose thin pads.

I avoid tampons because
1) I've never been penetrated and trying to insert a tampon feels beyond awkward
2) I'm paranoid of the TSS risks
3) If I do manage to get one up there, I either can't get it far enough or the feeling of something in there is just really uncomfortable for me

I tried OB and still have a sample pack, but the three/four times I've tried, I've failed to stay comfortable with them. And if I have an unexpected light time, I won't have any trouble changing the pad, while the tampon needs to stay in while it soaks in more before it can be taken out comfortably.

I have a friend who accidentally inserted her first tampon SIDEWAYS. I have NO idea how she managed that and how she managed to get it to STAY like that, but she has a very obvious reason why she won't use tampons anymore. lol.

TAMPONS! I couldn't imagine life without them=)! Pads are so uncomforable and bulky...even the thin ones! I hate the feel of wearing a diaper. I've worn tampons ever since I discovered them and became comfortable with them.

Tampax are the best comfort wise...but I usually buy any brand that is on sale...(not generic) I haven't developed a trust for those yet!

You can live your daily life just by knowing the time frame that your tampon needs to be changed....without even feeling it. Tampax Pearl is a very nice option as well...but slightly more expensive. You couldn't pay me to wear pads throughout my entire period!

I use tampons because they are SO much more comfortable, and way more reliable then pads. You never have to worry about leaks, unless you don't change them often enough. I wear tampax pearl, they are so comfortable, you can't even tell you're wearing them. The only time I wear pads is at night to sleep. I would never go back to pads though. I was scared to use tampons at first, but once i did, I was so glad. :)

I'm past menopause, but I used pads; I preferred the "Always" brand, as they seemed to offer good protection in a relatively thin pad. I'm a short person (just about five feet exactly), and without getting too clinical, I simply don't have the necessary distance for a tampon to be used without discomfort.

I used to use pads. Then I discovered the wonderful invention of the tampon! =) After one use, I never used pads again.

I use Tampax Pearl. Very comfortable. The package opens quietly. And they don't take up much purse space! Altogether, they're great. At least give 'em a try!

I prefer pads, because I am often very busy, and tampons come with the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, which you can get if you leave the tampon in too long.

I use tampons "Pearls", I just like them, They have more absorbency and I don't have to worry for any "spill", when I was a teenager I used to wear pads, and hated it so bad... not only I had to change it very often so I didn't have an accident, but everyone could tell I was on my period, I couldn't exercises because it was very uncomfortable, and I could go on and on ..just explaining you why I decided to change to pads, I don't even know I have them, they are very comfortable...and no one knows I have it.

tampax tampons!

theyre the longest tampons out there so they last for many hours depending on how heavy your flow is... pads are uncomfortable, and the odor coming off of a bad is disguisting! Also think how embarassing it would be if you were pantsed! hahaa...
honestly that would be terrible...

but tampax is the brand i've used since i got mine 4 years ago!

i use both. I prefer tampons because it keeps you cleaner/fresher down there. Clean up is easier. I use overnight pads b/c I dont want to get up in the night to change a tampon its hard for me to fall back asleep. I use playtex tampons and always and carefree pads. Or is it stayfree? i dotn know.
