one error can produce disastrous effects, cancer and protein problems

DNA contains the genetic code. It contains the blueprints for every protein made by the organism. If the code is not replicated correctly, a mutation arises, which can result in a protein with an errot in amino acid sequence. This can result in a change in the activity of enzymes or differences in the physical characteristics of structural proteins. Mutation is a basis of evolution: when favorable mutations occur that create a survival advantage, those genes tend to get passed on by the survivors and their progeny.

DNA must be replicated in great accuracy to prevent any wrong transciption of proteins. Proteins are found in many organic substances, like meat or on your cells as receptor.

If say that you have a protein wrongly transcribed due to DNA replication fault, it can cause many problems for your cell.

Usually the rate in bacteria cells is 1 / 10^8
In humans is much higer as human cells have a better proof reading function.

If DNA is not replicated accurately, then mutations will occur.
If an error occurs in the annealing and ligation processes, then the end result will not be exactly what it is supposed to be.

Any change in the DNA of a gene is a mutation. It results in the wrong amino acid being put in a protein, and that can cause all kinds of trouble.

DNA carries every bit of information needed to create a being. If it is not accurate it will have mutations that can lead to disfigurement and genetic diseases.
