I dont know much about the radar detectors in cars that consumers can buy or if they are accurate but why is it legal in most states. Im going to assume they work. Why would the government make it legal for a driver to likes to speed be able to have a device that decreases the chance of getting a ticket. Sooner or later wont this speeding driver cause a damage to society of himself.

If we reduce the speed limit to 5mph, there wouldn't be any fatal accidents. Radar detectors are just that, they detect radar electromagnetic radiation, doesn't mean you're speeding or about to get into an accident.
With "instant on" radar, a radar detector is useless. By the time a driver reacts to the detector's signal, the police already have a speed reading. Basically, they're a waste of money.

They do reduce speed. The best option on the highway is if "We the People" work together using the flash-the-lights thing. Keep a group of cars in front of you to stop instant-on with a radar detector.

I had one years ago. That thing would beep everytime i turned a corner. The slightest electronic signal from any device would set it off. I guess you get what you pay for.
I speed all the time, ive only gotten 2 speeding tickets in 15 years of driving.
