Hey Everyone!
I have to interview someone for my Women's Studies class about their perspective on gender. My subject is women in the military and I need to come up with questions about it. I need open ended questions. Please I need your help! Thank you!

The open ended questions I want are questions I could ask a man. I want to know a man's perspective.

Thank you!

ask men how they would feel seeing a woman being shot or blown up in front of them, as opposed to a man.

and then later finding out that woman was pregnant.

ask men how they would feel having a female sleep in the dirt next to them, as opposed to a man.

ask men how they would feel if a woman was captured and raped and beaten, as opposed to a man.

ask men if they would rather rely on the physical strength of a man, or a woman.

it has a lot to do with the portrayal of how women are. women are 'weak' and 'small' and 'emotional'. men have a soft spot for women. they are instictively protective of women. they are attracted to women. when put in a situation of life or death, trust and dependability and reliablity is a huge factor among troops.

ask men if they were in a shoot-out with the enemy, would they rather have to rely on a man or a woman. everyone would unanimously answer "man."

Having women in the military is fine. Whether to have women in combat is a difficult, confusing question. In this day of laser-guided bombs, radio controlled robot reconnassance mini-airplanes, etc. etc., there are certainly roles they can handle as well as a man, where upper body strength is of minimal importance, and I don't doubt for a minute that there are plenty of women with the guts to hold their own in a firefight, and become every bit as good as a man with a rifle - in sniping, for instance.

Hell, my wife learned a lot faster than I did. Good eyes, steady hands, a natural at gauging wind speed, obstacle deflection and bullet drop. I just quit teaching her because she was getting almost as good as I was.

But there are deep and unresolved questions about men and women side-by-side in combat. Yes. Soldiering is a brotherhood. No one gets left behind, but no one gets saved if it's going to cost half the platoon's lives to do it.

Triage is an ugly but unavoidable aspect of warfare and putting women into the mix (an already chaotic, morally wrenching mix at that) creates an entirely new set of problems for people that - believe me - already have enough problems to deal with. The Israelies tried it, and the women involved did nothing to shame themselves or their gender, but the men tended to react primally -devote more attention to wounded women than men, etc., - and yes, men don't like to sit around and say nothing when one of their female "brothers" is being gang-raped in an effort to extract information from the rest of the brotherhood.

It's a tough question. And there are no easy answers. I can't give you one. Just some thoughts.

Being equal doesn't means absolute! You can be emotionally but balance it with rationaly! Can not be avoid, men muscle is more powerful, so women in military better if in the medicine division. Let think this way, women in the front of war, while men the back treating the wounds! What? treat with muscle? Men more aggresive and they treat the wounds, while women who more emotionaly in the front of war maybe pity their enemy! What a waste talent!

unlike men in a war a women sadly has to consider that being captured might not only mean torture and mistreatment she must acknowledge that being raped is thousands of times more likely for her because of her gender then it is for her male soldier comrades how do you mange to come to grips with this ?

a woman can train to become muscular and she may train to defend herself in hand to hand combat. no amount of training will make up for the fact that women are smaller then most men not as Strong as the man she may very well have to fight a live and death battle with how do you feel and think this factor plays in the minds of the female military people ?

no male soldier when captured even if raped by the enemy will become pregnant with the enemies baby. how do you aka this lady your going to see come to grips with that possibility?

I don't think they should be there other than as nurses .I guarantee than most men would rather a a man back them. Most women are not physically capable of fighting. What is sexist about wanting a man ( who is most like ley stronger) to back you rather than woman who is weaker.
